Scandal fans rejoice and say thanks to BET for its multi-part marathon screening of the hottest show on television.
Starting this Saturday August 10 at 8:00 a.m. ET, you can dive into Olivia Pope and her Gladiators for all of the first season and part of season two. Clear your calendar and DVR capacity since the marathon runs until 10;00 p.m. ET
The Scandal marathon continues a week later on Saturday August 17 during the same time period, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. ET
If you’re like many of us, including yours truly, you came late to the Scandal party. While season one of Scandal is on DVD, season two hasn’t gotten there just yet and this will be the first time we can gobble up what we have missed.
With the explosion in popularity of the show helmed by Shonda Rhimes, creator and exec producer of Grey’s Anatomy as well as Private Practice, it wasn’t just viewers that loved the one-hour drama starring Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn.
Washington nabbed an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Olivia Pope, a high powered and successful Washington D.C. “fixer” of all things politically scandalous. It is the star’s first nomination making her the first African-American to be nominated for best drama actress in the past 18 years,
The one-hour drama is loosely based on the exploits of Judy Smith who runs Smith & Co., the Washington D.C. crisis firm that recently took over the mess Paula Deen’s camp made of the former Food Network star’s admissions that she used the “N” word at one time in her life.
No such trivial pursuits for Olivia Pope. That lady deals in Presidential election fixing and forcing her will on the enemies of her clients. Olivia Pope only hires the best team, all of whom are experts at what they are asked to do. No time for qualms about playing down and dirty if you want to be a Gladiator, the term she coined for those that follow her into battle and emerge victorious.
