THE VOICE Season 6 began last night with Night 1 of the Blind Audition rounds.
Blake Shelton scored only one singer for Team Blake, but he sure was a good one. Jake Worthington returned to THE VOICE for a second try. Check out his audition clip posted below.
This time, the 17 year-old Worthington who hails from La Porte, Texas got three chairs to turn for him, Adam Levine, Shelton and Shakira.
Singing an old-school country tune “Don’t Close Your Eyes” by Keith Whitley, while accompanying himself on an acoustic guitar, Jake was overwhelmed with the response, particularly the good reviews from Shakira.
Let’s call it like it is. Jake Worthington has a huge crush on the Colombian singer and let it be known. He didn’t do it in that creepy way we sometimes hear from Cee Lo Green after he’s turned his chair for a singer.
Jake Worthington is a sweet young teen who just saw his hero Blake Shelton turn his chair for him, facing a huge live audience screaming for him.
So when Shakira commented on his song with, “That was perfect,” good old Jake didn’t miss a beat as he replied, “You’re perfect Shakira.”
The romancing of the singer began as Levine, Shakira and Blake tried to woo him to their teams. Ultimately he admitted that he wanted to be schooled by Blake Shelton, but it didn’t mean that coming face-to-face with Shakira didn’t float his boat and big time.
As he said his thank yous once off the stage, he approached the Colombian singer, dressed in a gorgeous, low cut, shiny mini-dress, he just looked at her and said:
“You’re so beautiful,” as Shakira gave him the gift of a lifetime –a big hug.
Meanwhile, Shelton came up dry the rest of the show, but with Jake in his arsenal, Blake knows he’s good to go.
