Last week, on the Season Premiere of Discovery Channel’s hit series ALASKA: THE LAST FRONTIER, we saw Atz Lee and Jane move their residence out away from the center of the Kilcher clan, to start a new homesteading project at the family’s hunting cabin. Being so far away–and so alone–did not seem to be Jane’s cup of tea, but she is always a good sport, and willing to give it a good try; establishing a new homestead for the good of the Kilcher family was no different.
But, it is definitely going to be a challenge for Jane’s people-loving spirit. We also have to wonder: How will the new homestead project affect Atz Lee and Jane’s time on camera this season? Jane called a “hot chick” by Atz Lee, sweet talking her for helping out with the cabin.
One of our favorite parts of the show is watching Jane as she tries to master many of the tasks required for living remotely off the land. Sometimes she succeeds, sometimes she fails, but she always tries–and keeps trying. We like Jane; we hope living so far away–and the addition of Shane and his wife to the cast (who we welcome, by the way)–does not mean less of Jane and Atz Lee.
Time will tell.
Fans of Alaska reality TV have no doubt noticed a trend: Complaints about exceptionally warm temperatures in Alaska. It seems to affect everything about life in Alaska, from travel to hunting to trapping. But, like other Alaskans we have seen, the Kilchers are doing their best to swing at this curveball Mother Nature has thrown their way and knock it out of the park. Tonight, according to Discovery Channel, on episode “Blood, Sweat & Beers”:
After a winter of record-setting warm temperatures, the Kilchers team up to tame the land. Otto & Eivin tackle turning raw wilderness into a source of food for generations to come. Atz Sr. battles the elements & a menace at the head of the bay.
ALASKA: THE LAST FRONTIER is produced for Discovery Channel by Discovery Studios. Executive Producers are Daniel Soiseth, Christopher Meindl and Mitchell Tanen, Co-Executive Producer is Vince Ueber. For Discovery Channel, Executive Producer is John Slaughter and Producer is Sara Van Acker.
