UPDATED: We have info for contacting Daniel Casey here on TVRuckus!
On Monday night, following fan-favorite series SWAMP PEOPLE, History Channel is introducing viewers to “The Rifle That Made America” and “The Bowie Knife,” when series IRON & FIRE premieres with blacksmith Daniel Casey.
It has been a bittersweet season for many SWAMP PEOPLE fans. Viewers love their swampers, for sure, but knowing that this is the final season has tainted the episodes for some fans–not to mention the loss of key cast members. Monday night, on episode “Cannibal Country”:
Troy faces off with a cannibal gator that threatens to ruin his season. In Houma, Jay Paul edges closer to taking over the Molinere gator-hunting operation. Over in Pierre Part, Chase struggles to redeem himself and in Gonzales, Glenn Guist does battle with “the leaning house of Louisiana.”
Following SWAMP PEOPLE, fans should stay tuned for all-new series IRON & FIRE. The show stars Daniel Casey, a backwoods blacksmith, and one of few professional blacksmiths America has to offer today. Living deep in the Ozarks, Casey specializes in the field of historic weapons, and holds tradition and family close to his heart as he works in raw steel and ancient timber. What is the life of a professional blacksmith like these days? Find out on History Channel’s new series, IRON & FIRE.
According to HISTORY, the series begins with episode, “The Rifle That Made America”:
In the heart of the Ozarks, traditional knife and gunsmith Daniel Casey breathes new life into a 200-year old classic as he crafts a custom “Poor Boy” rifle. This was the weapon of choice for the average man of the 1800s who needed to put food on the table and protect his home and family. But the rifle’s of no use against the tiny invaders who’ve moved into Daniel’s dad’s home, so he brings in the big guns to remove a colony of honeybees to a hive of their own. Then at a family dinner, the buzz is all about Daniel’s news of a new addition to the Casey clan.
Followed by a second episode, “The Bowie Knife”:
As ironsmith Daniel Casey begins to craft a replica of the very first Bowie knife ever made, he has a big pair of boots to fill. After all, Arkansas is where that American original was first forged in the early 19th century – and it’s become a classic. So Daniel salvages steel and wood from days gone by to hammer out his own version of the 200-year old antique. He takes time out from the painstaking task to repair a Civil War-era rifle — and blow off some steam with friends shooting targets with black powder flintlocks.
IRON & FIRE premieres on History Channel on Monday, April 11 with back-to-back episodes, beginning at 10/9c. This new HISTORY series follows fan-favorite hit SWAMP PEOPLE, which airs at 9/8c.
