There’s one million dollars worth of vehicles in Richard Rawlings’ Gas Monkey Garage. All are ready to be showcased and hopefully sold, at Barrett-Jackson. That’s a large portion of tonight’s episode 2 of the eighth “Fast N’ Loud” season on Discovery.
In “Opening Bid”, the showboat gambler Rawlings has high hopes. There’s one fly in the ointment and that would be the rare ’55 Chevy. Richard and Aaron Kauman traveled to Northern California to check it out for purchase in last week’s season premiere. They met with Mike Amader only the second owner, who bought it from the proverbial little old lady.
Amader made some modifications, some of which didn’t please Aaron and Rawlings, but they were easy to change. Immediately gone was going to be the yellow paint, with the guys going old school and returning the car to its original two-tone paint job. The seats needed work, but the guts of the car was ripe for the picking, and pick they did. Tonight on “Fast N’ Loud”, Richard fears it won’t be ready for Barrett-Jackson.
That’s not all they’ve got going tonight. In the sneak peek video posted below, the little boys inside Kaufman and Rawlings appear, as often happens. Over at the garage, they meet up with the owners of Westside Hotrods, a full service shop. They brought by two COEs (Cab Over Engine) to see if the Gas Monkey guys were interested.
One of the two wasn’t worth their time, but a green one delighted Aaron enough to take it for a drive. Off they go onto the busy streets of Los Angeles, being cautioned to test the brakes. Richard’s suggestion is to down shift, and when Aaron engages the clutch to go into a different gear, the sounds you hear seem to take the bloom off the rose for Kaufman.
