“MasterChef: Junior” is back for its fifth season on Fox and it all kicks off Thursday night February 9 at 8 p.m. The Quest For An Apron takes over the kitchen as 40 junior home cooks ages eight through thirteen years-old come to Los Angeles ready to compete.
Facing them will be Judges Chef Gordon Ramsay and Chef Christina Tosi. At stake is the top prize of a Master Chef Junior trophy and a whopping cash prize of $100,000.
Only 20 junior cooks will get the chance to stick around for the rest of the season. The test begins immediately in “Quest For An Apron Part 1” as groups of four cooks get unique challenges from steak, to scallops to cupcakes and only two move on. The full group of 20 finalists will be revealed in Part 2, airing Thursday Feb. 16.
In the EXCLUSIVE sneak peek of the “MasterChef: Junior” season premiere, an all-girl group of four gets greeted by Ramsay and Tosi, and as the drama builds, the girls speak up, saying what the adult chefs feel, but never say. You know, like, “See, this is the scary part,”, to which a competitor said with a grin, “I know!” Adorable these kids, just adorable, but don’t let that fool you. They are in it to win it.
On tap to mix it up with the junior chefs as guest judge, is Mayim Bialik (“The Big Bang Theory”) who gives them a vegan challenge. Then Julie Bowen (“Modern Family) gets the VIP customer treatment. Here’s what you might want to know. Gordon Ramsay doesn’t breathe fire, curse and humiliate these chefs. For that alone it’s worth it.
