“Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team” began its 2017 training camp and who better than team owner Jerry Jones to welcome the 44 candidates? It was the first camp at the brand new practice facility. The locker room luxury wowed the ladies, particularly those who had cheered for other NFL teams. No one does it better than the Cowboys.
Kelli Finglass and Judy Trammell were generally impressed with the level of talent. Typically the first week is when they spot candidates that look like they haven’t had enough dance training, or aren’t quick enough to pick up the choreography on the fly. The candidates had lots of help from DCC alumni who returned to watch them practice.
The alumni were blunt, but specific which is exactly what the rookies needed. None of the women returning to camp after a year or more on the team were given any inkling that their spots were in jeopardy for lack of performance. Yet, at the end of the week two were called into Kelli’s office.
Stephanie and Tasha were told that they gained weight and it had to come off. Having the DCC alumni around might have made it even worse for them. At least one, a bestie of Kelli Finglass never forgot, even it if was 30 years ago, how she had to maintain their physique to fit into that uniform. Both women were put on notice that their bodies had to get smaller, and fast!
As noted above, this season’s crop of candidates on “DCC: Making the Team” are all talented, but two rookies were hauled into the office to face Kelli and Judy. One was Brianna, the very young woman who Kelli can’t stop admiring. She even told Judy, in jest of course, that she felt like opening a modeling agency and hire Brianna. Her issues related to lack of pom experience and dancing to country or pop music. It’s going to take some work to get her loose enough to “go big” as she was instructed.
Erin was warned about her stumbles. Since it was only the first week no one predicted doom and gloom, but it wasn’t a good start. Nerves, over thinking the choreography and lack of experience showed. She was hopeful after the DCC alumni gave her good suggestions to overcome the problems.
Next up: makeovers!
