“Sun, Sand and Romance” arrives as summer 2017 is winding down. In it a high-powered business couple takes a vacation in Cancun. Can business ever take a back seat for them? If not, things will change, and fast!
The original movie, part of Hallmark Channel’s “Summer Nights” programming, stars Tricia Helfer (“Lucifer,” “Suits”). Paul Campbell
(“Knight Rider”), Scott Elrod (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Chicago Fire”) and Sadie Robertson (“Duck Dynasty”), with a story that makes a point about love – sometimes you are reminded of what it feels like to have the right person in your life.
Many of us get knee-deep in a relationship, all settled in, but not necessarily for the right reasons. It’s difficult to see past the familiar, particularly if you haven’t thought of anything else in a long time. For Kate (Helfer), a hard-working financial exec, it takes running into someone from her past who recalls her in a different context.
Kate heads to Cancun with her boyfriend Eric (Elrod), an equally ambitious land development executive, for some much-needed rest and relaxation. But the getaway they agreed would be 90 percent romance and just 10 percent work becomes anything but that.
Upon arrival, Eric learns a prominent real estate developer is a guest in their resort. Wanting to seize the opportunity for potential business, Eric chases this new venture and leaves Kate to her own devices time and again. Luckily, Shep (Campbell), the resort’s activities director, is an old friend of Kate’s from her camp counselor days and more than willing to help fill her solo hours with fun and adventure.
As the old friends spend more time together and reconnect, Kate is reminded of dreams she used to have and finds herself wondering if it’s time to change course. Questions abound, like does it make sense, and is this important enough to change course?
