“90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?” aired its latest show in the season, “Lost In Translation”, and for the first time in a long while, Anfisa and Jorge weren’t the biggest attraction. Their situation took second place to Pedro and Chantel’s trip to the Dominican Republic, or as we like to call it, Chicken Feet Bowl I.
That doesn’t mean that what transpired between Anfisa and Jorge wasn’t intriguing. We learned that instead of just tossing her husband out of the apartment for a night, she told him she wanted him out for the foreseeable future. They separated and at the conclusion of the episode, it had been more than one month in duration. He was still paying the bills.
Jorge came clean to his big sister Lourdes, meeting her alone as he should have the first time. He admitted everything, and said that his refusal to defend his wife at the meeting with Lourdes was the final straw for the combustible Anfisa. We saw nothing of the fight between the couple that led to the separation, and perhaps that was a good thing.
This season of “90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?” contained two scenes of Anfisa smacking Jorge at or around his face and head. Last week fan reaction ramped up and then a petition was filed on change.org asking TLC to cease showing the domestic abuse while denouncing it. That story, here.
TVRuckus sent three requests to the network to ask for a comment about the outcry and the petition. We got nothing in return, not even a “No comment” response. (We received a “no comment” email Monday afternoon July 24 from TLC’s representative) They were clearly aware of the atmosphere surrounding the scenes and instead of editing last night’s show, they doubled down. We got replays of both hitting incidents. Only one reader has indicated he doesn’t think what Anfisa did was worthy of negative publicity, and it’s based on her being a woman. In other words, how much could it hurt? Thoughts?
