“Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team” returns for season 12, Thursday night August 3 on CMT. The network proudly announced that the season was expanded to 13 episodes, which can only be good news.
It’s that time again, and the stalwarts of the dance team and the show are ready. Kelli Finglass and Judy Trammell are back in their chairs ready to choose women who look like they can make it through training camp and join the squad. In other words, it’s time for auditions!
Fans of the show understand that they’ll get to see the best and the worst of the auditions, including the comments made by the judges. That panel is an interesting mix of people that includes Charlotte Jones, Vice President of the team and its brand manager, former cheerleader and show regular Melissa Rycroft, fitness trainers, dance instructors and the infamous Miss Kitty.
Check out this video posted below for a moment we’ve never seen before. It’s Judy and Kelli being kind to a mom who decided to try out alongside her daughter. You know she isn’t gonna’ make it, but listen as the usually tough critiques are muted and kind.
“Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team” is CMT’s longest running non-music series It reached nearly 2 million total viewers across all CMT platforms weekly last season. The soap opera feel to it is only bested by the extraordinary physical strength and agility of the women who become members of the most exalted and exclusive cheerleader/dance team in sports franchise history.
Then there are the trainwreck auditions, which reflect something that has always puzzled us, along with other viewers of the show. Have these women not seen the previous seasons in which cheerleader-hopefuls flame out? The lack of stamina, dance training, and their “look”, meaning the shape of their body, are keys to failure. Yet, each year they show up. Take a look at this season’s sorta’ blooper reel.
